The 4 Regional Winners will get a new pair of running shoes. ($130 value). In addition,  Overall and Second place winners will receive a trophy.

Peak's 5K VIRTUAL Madness

 This is a VIRTUAL 5K running race competition.  The competition will be run similar to the March Madness basketball tournament with head-to head competition. Since this is both an AGE and GENDER graded event, all participants will have an equal chance of winning the tournament.  Entrants names will be drawn randomly and seeded in order of drawing. ( first name drawn is #1 Seed, etc).  Since Peak Performance has stores in Ankeny, Omaha, and Sioux City, we are able to have regional competition sites.

All signups must be completed by midnight on Wednesday, March 25, 2020.  The tournament brackets will be determine and reported by 1:00 pm on Thursday, March 26, 2020.  All entrants must submit their first round 5K Times by midnight Sunday, March 29, 2020. If you are a winner, you will be notified the next morning of your next round competitor.  Then you will have until midnight Wednesday, April 1, 2020 to report your time.  All reporting dates for completing rounds are either on a Wednesday or Sunday, respectively.  Failure to report your time by stated date and time will recorded as a DNF (did not finish).

All competitors must be able run outside on a road, track or trail and use either a fitness or GPS watch to record and submit their times. After your run, take picture of your fitness or GPS watch showing your final time and 5K distance AND then report via email to PEAKOMAHA@GMAIL.COM   
(NO TREADMILL TIMES WILL BE ALLOWED)
 

We will be using the calculator from HMRRC.com to provide you with an achievement percentile for a 5K distance based on Age-graded and Gender information. (click link: https://www.hmrrc.com/members/tools/pace-calculator/age-graded-calculator)
 

  • Your performance will be judged using an achievement percentile without bias for gender or the aging process (in other words, you are measured against a specific standard for your age and sex). Globally, these percentiles can be interpreted as follows so you can see where you compare:

    • Over 90% --- World Class

    • Over 80% --- National Class

    • Over 70% --- Regional Class

    • Over 60% --- Local Class
